When bringing home a new puppy, it is very important to get them off to a good start on developing good habits. Dog crate training is a great way to help you accomplish that. Cultivating good Housebreaking habits is especially at this early stage as once a dog develops the habit of urinating or defecating wherever he pleases, it’s a very difficult habit to break. Ideally, if you could always catch your dog every time he say starts urinating on something, you could train him without crating, however, this is unrealistic if you have a dog who roams the house 24/7. With crate training, you are essentially teaching your dog to wait until he is released from his crate. Dogs are generally clean creatures who don't like to soil their living quarters, crate or dog pillows and beds.
If you keep their dog crate next to, or not far from a door, you avoid the dog having an pee accident on the way outside. Your dog will quickly develop a routine if you are consistent with this routine.
